Christopher T. Schaper

Chris Schaper is the chief executive officer of The Schinnerer Group, one of the largest and most experienced insurance underwriting managers in the world. In this capacity, he is responsible for the Schinnerer Group worldwide, which includes the subsidiaries of Victor O. Schinnerer and ICAT in the USA and Encon in Canada, as well as oversight of all managing general agent/underwriter (MGA/MGU) business throughout Marsh.

Mr. Schaper’s responsibilities also include the oversight of the insurance technology company Dovetail, as well as development and implementation of new technology initiatives and progressive capital market alternatives. He joined Marsh & McLennan Companies in September 2016.

Mr. Schaper has more than 30 years of experience within the insurance industry at both start-up and existing enterprises. Prior to joining Marsh & McLennan, Mr. Schaper held several executive positions most recently as president of Montpelier Reinsurance Ltd., and underwriting chairman of Blue Capital Management Ltd., Montpelier Re’s capital markets operation where he was instrumental in initiating and establishing this business.

He has also served on the boards of several business entities associated with Montpelier Re. Previously, he held several leadership positions at Endurance Specialty Insurance Ltd., including chief underwriting officer and head of Reinsurance, as well as roles at Gerling Global Financial Products, Employers Reinsurance Corporation (a division of GE Capital), and USF&G (now Travelers).
