Duck Creek’s Claims Software Recognized by Celent with Industry Award for Third Consecutive Year

January 17, 2017

Insurance solutions and services provider receives XCelent Award – Advanced and Agile Technology

BOSTON, Jan. 17, 2017 – Duck Creek Technologies’ insurance claims software received an XCelent Award in Celent’s newly published report titled “Claims System Vendors North American P&C Insurance 2016.” The report, which profiles 30 claims systems offered in North America, can be viewed here.

Duck Creek Claims took the top honor for “Advanced and Agile Technology,” based on the following criteria:

  • The configurability of the solution
  • Methods to extend or modify the data model
  • Methods for testing changes
  • The approach to versioning and how this influences the development, deployment, and rollback of change
  • Methods for reuse of definitions and rules
  • Scalability and support for cloud deployment
  • Reference comments

“We are honored to receive this XCelent Award, which recognizes our efforts to deliver the most technologically advanced, flexible and functionality-rich claims software with every deployment,” said Patti Griffin, chief product officer, Duck Creek Technologies. “Insurers can transform their businesses by increasing operational efficiencies and preparing for future demand and opportunities with the right technology.”

In the report, Celent said, “Duck Creek Claims is one of the strongest claims solutions available in North America,” adding, “Duck Creek Claims has a high level of usability with many thoughtfully designed screens. For example, the FNOL screens have a checkbox ‘progress panel.’ An easy to read agenda screen has a left side date list and color-coded tasks. The Pulse feature pushes notifications of tasks defined as critical.”

Celent also noted Duck Creek Claims’ many ease-of-use features, including “I need to” navigations; Configuration Consoles, and a 360-degree view across software components and omni-channel enablement.

“Few carriers are doing nothing when it comes to claims. More than half are engaged in some level of replacement of the claims admin system in the current year,” said Donald Light, research director with Celent’s Insurance practice. “The reasons for such activity are plentiful. Legacy claims systems are aging, which means that they are expensive to maintain.”

In addition to receiving the Celent XCelent Award for its claims software technology, Duck Creek also offers:

  • A proven Software as a Service model accessed via the cloud
  • Implementation resources and expertise supported by an established systems integration partner program, which expedites deployment and provides ongoing support.
  • Continuous product development with timely releases that enable customers to remain current on their system investment and aligned with industry innovations—digital support, APIs, and apps.

The XCelent Awards are designed to help financial institutions and technology providers stay abreast of industry trends by evaluating the shifting vendor marketplace and awarding technology best practices.

Duck Creek Claims is included in a suite that also incorporates Duck Creek Policy, Duck Creek BillingDuck Creek Rating, and Duck Creek Insights software. The configurable software is designed to work independently or as a combined approach to manage all aspects of the property & casualty (P&C) insurance lifecycle. It can be deployed through an on-premise implementation or via Duck Creek OnDemand, a Software as a Service model.
