Duck Creek Technologies Congratulates Three Customers on Being Named 2016 Celent Model Insurer Award Winners

April 15, 2016
Westchester, a Chubb Company, Gore Mutual Insurance, and Pacific Specialty Insurance Company each take top honors in their respective technology category

New York, NY – April 15, 2016 – Duck Creek Technologies today announced that three of their customers have each been honored as 2016 Model Insurer Award winners by Celent, a leading research and advisory firm. Celebrating its tenth year, the Celent Model Insurer Awards program recognizes organizations that demonstrate the year’s top technology initiatives.

The honorees were revealed during Celent’s annual 2016 Innovation and Insight Day held at the Museum of American Finance in New York. The insurers were selected for their effective use of technology to improve performance and meet market demands when tackling issues that face all insurers today. The following Duck Creek customers took three of the six top honors:

  • Westchester, A Chubb Company – Legacy Transformation award winner: The primary objective of this initiative, led by Westchester’s Microbusiness unit, was to rapidly deploy to 50 states and jurisdictions a robust and flexible policy administration system to support the unit’s goal of establishing a ‘Producer  First,’ low-touch mindset through speed, accessibility, value, ease-of-use, and relationships. The Chubb Solutions Fast TrackTM initiative included a highly intuitive producer front-end, rules-based underwriting to appropriately balance “no touch” quotes with pricing risk, a large number of third party data integrations and pre-fill capabilities with Duck Creek Policy at the center…and rapid implementation. Fast Track went from concept to reality in less than one year. The end result is a solution that provides a leading producer experience centered around the Microbusinesses’ core mission of establishing an end-to-end quoting process achieved in less than five minutes, with increased efficiency and accuracy through automation and integration.
  • Gore Mutual Insurance Company – Digital and Omnichannel Technologies award winner: This initiative centered on developing and deploying uBiz, the first complete ecommerce commercial insurance platform in Canada. Gore leveraged a host of technology advancements to simplify the buying experience of small business customers while providing the coverage at an affordable price. uBiz achieved this by using a platform that enabled small business customers to design their own insurance coverage, buy it immediately, and then receive secure e-documents in real time.
  • Pacific Specialty Insurance Company: Operational Excellence in IT Management award winner: With aspirations of becoming a virtual carrier, Pacific Specialty commenced an initiative that would migrate all critical business applications from an outdated and constrained platform onto a cloud-based infrastructure. They needed and found a platform that had the functionality that would enable them to scale up on an economical basis and improve efficiencies by automating processes and streamlining workflows. The platform transition initiative also included hiring IT personnel for key roles that could support the new core system and operating model.

A detailed case study of each winning initiative is included in Celent’s annual Model Insurer Report. All three carriers will be on hand to share their winning initiatives during Duck Creek’s annual FORMATION16 in Miami, Florida, May 9-12.

“Celent recognizes each of these Model Insurer Award winners for their successful implementations and effective use of technology to support key initiatives and business operations,” said Karen Monks, analyst with Celent. “They exemplify successful best practices that are applicable to all insurers, no matter their size or location.”

“We congratulate all three insurers on receiving this coveted Celent award, said Michael A. Jackowski, CEO, Duck Creek Technologies. “Each technology implementation brings new opportunities and we’re thrilled to support the progress of these successful insurers.”
