On the evening of Tuesday, January 9th, the Duck Creek Boston HQ team held their annual holiday party, this time at a most unique venue – the New England Aquarium. The team from the Aquarium were fantastic hosts, transforming the iconic Boston learning center into a fun and fascinating place to celebrate a fantastic 2017 and look forward to more success in 2018. The event featured delicious catered hors d’oeuvres and entrees, two full bars, and entertainment and education by the incredibly accommodating Aquarium staff.
While all in attendance had a wonderful time celebrating with their coworkers and enjoying the top-notch catering, nothing could beat the experience of doing it all amidst the Aquarium’s many amazing exhibits, most notably the centerpiece of it all, a four-story, 200,000-gallon Giant Ocean Tank. The tank spans 40 feet and is home to myriad fascinating salt-water creatures, including several species of sea turtle, one of which was kind enough to let us all snap countless cell phone pictures as it took part in a live feeding show!
During dinner, CEO Mike Jackowski gave a characteristically charismatic speech to all in attendance, giving thanks for their contributions to the runaway success that was 2017 and rallying the team with optimism for even better things to come in 2018. Mike’s speech was greeted with rousing applause, a good deal of which emanated from the Aquarium’s more than 80 penguins. Apparently even flightless birds are not immune to Mike’s infectious enthusiasm.
All in all, the event was an amazing experience, with many in attendance commenting that the venue elevated what would have been a great time anywhere else to Best Holiday Party Ever status. Many thanks to everyone on Duck Creek’s Boston team who helped to put this event together, and many thanks also to the wonderful New England Aquarium staff members who graciously hosted, educated, and entertained us into the wee hours.
